KISORO: Mysterious fire setting homes ablaze in Muramba sub County,eight houses destroyed


At Least eight families in Matarama village,Gisozi parish in Muramba sub county have been left homeless following the outbreak of a mysterious fire that razed their houses.

According to the LC1 chairperson Matarama village Mr. Mutazihara Michael, a mysterious fire started on Friday 12 May 2023 at around 8pm and house materials like mattresses, clothes and many others were burnt.

He also said that he got reports from Mr. Ntuyenabo Boniface and they started suspecting some people to have started the fire but a few hours later they saw other houses on fire without anybody starting it.

Ntuyenabo Boniface, the elder person in the affected family, says the fire might have been caused by the devil spirit since it is spreading from house to house in the same family.

He also requested governmental and non- governmental organisation to come up with help since all house properties have been destroyed and are left with nothing to Eat

Kwizera Tomas who is also a member of the affected family said that as a family they have been having land wrangles Before the Death of her Grand Mother.He also said Sembagare who lives in Kampala came on Wednesday last week and on Friday he placed trees locally known as "Imihaate" on her mother's tomb adding that it may be one of the reasons causing spirits of the dead to torment the family through the fire.

Sembagale William who is said to have created the incidents of fire outbreak in the family after placing trees on her mother's grave said that he just put the trees on the tomb to eulogize her mother without any other intention.

He also said that since the prayers are doing their work that if he did it with intention he is able to face all challenges that will come after everything is finished.

Ayinkamiye Jane said that they just saw the fire burning everything in the house which has worried them. She also said that Sembagare came from Kampala and placed trees on her mother's tomb and that she is not sure whether it is the reason for the outbreak of fire in houses.

On Wednesday 17th May 2023 the fire was still razing some house materials

According to LC3 chairperson Muramba sub county Mr. Nzabona Francis, they are going to compile a report about the affected families and take it to responsible authorities.

According to Muramba sub county LC3 Chairperson Nzabona Francis the houses that have been torched down belong to Ntuyenabao Boniface, Runali Ronald, Sunday, Kwizera Donati, Sembagare William and Hafasha Banard.

 He also said that the sub county is soliciting help for the affected families since almost 50-80 people were affected without any food or clothes left in the houses.
