Over 500 pupils in Nyarusiza sub-county are said to have not reported back to school this year because of onion cultivation.
The issue
was raised by Nyarusiza sub-county Chairperson Nsabimana Erasmus during the 9th
top class graduation ceremony at Modern Era primary school at Nyarusiza
sub-county headquarters today where a
total of 167 pupils graduated.
While
speaking to parents and pupils, LCIII Chairperson Nsabimana Erasmus said that
many of the pupils dropped out of school to work in onion gardens all over the
sub-county. He requested parents and guardians to make sure pupils return back
to school next term.
However
Amos Hakizimana district speaker who was the guest of honor at the function
said that Nyarusiza parent's especially Men have a problem of leaving all the
responsibilities to their wives which makes it difficult for their children to
study well.
Kwebiha
Alex managing director Modern Era pre and primary school said a total of 167
top class pupils graduated under the theme "Our children's future can also
determine now".
Alex says
Modern Era started back in 2012 and their P.7 pioneers have since graduated
from different universities. He said that the school has plans of establishing
a boarding section of all classes.
Byamugisha
Patrice head teacher Modern Era primary school said that the school performs
well in their exams and he called upon parents to always motivate the children.
