The
Bukimbiri County Member of Parliament, Hon. Eddie Kwizera Wagahugu has decried
the growing rate of corruption in Kisoro district’s service commission that has
led to a rise in staffing gaps in different departments.
Hon.
Kwizera, who has been on a constituency tour, made these comments on Wednesday 21, while at Rubuguri town council market.
According
to him, like in other districts, a job applicant in Kisoro district is required
to pay some dues in order to win favor of the service commission staff which
has resulted in staffing imbalances especially in schools.
He said many schools in Bukimbiri county have no female teachers which he say it is unfair. He for-instance pointed out Nyarusunzu primary school in Nkuringo town council that has only four teacher instead of eight teachers.
He
noted that the education sector is one of the most affected departments where
some schools lack female teachers despite having large numbers of female learners.
He
revealed that Bukimbiri leaders’ forum has fronted one person to the district
service commission so that she can represent the people from Bukimbiri County.
However,
Hon. Eddie challenged the people of Rubuguri town council to desist from hatred
tendencies among themselves so that they unite and work hard to develop their
town council if they are to benefit from the area's good road network.
He
also urged locals in his county to avoid wasting their time on hunting for PDM
funds because its guidelines are not yet clear. He noted that he will take a
lead in ensuring that the guidelines change for most people to benefit.
Meanwhile,
the Rubuguri town council Mayor, Hakizimana Nicholas says that Rubuguri town
council’s developments are still being frustrated by a number of factors
including people who deny giving part of their land for street development and
lack of representation on the district’s service commission.
