Stray dogs
have again invaded several villages in Nyundo Sub County, Kisoro district, throwing residents in
a state of panic and fear.
As a result
this, angry people are invading homes to kill any dog, according to sub county
LC3 chairperson
The Nyundo
sub county LC3 chairperson Mutambuzi Fred Kanyarujo told our reporter on
Thursday 8th 2023 that he received several callers from Mukozi, Rwebikonko and
Rurembo village informing him how people are invading homes to kill domestic
dogs.
He says others
complain that the sheep and goats have been mauled and killed by stray dogs, a
reason they are hunting all dogs in their areas.
He is
asking the district authorities to join the sub county leaders to handle the
situation before people start fighting to death over the dogs which are being
killed from homes.
He said
that over 70 sheep and goats have been killed by stray dogs since the start of
this week.
While still
talking to our reporter, Mutambuzi also said that the rains of recent months
have left many roads in Nyundo in a dire state which makes vehicles to travel
with difficulties.
However it
is not Nyundo Sub County only that was affected by heavy rains that hit Kisoro
district in recent months, other hilly sub counties were also affected.
