The Kisoro district council
has maintained its stand on the decision to allocate an office land to Murora Sub
County in Chahafi town council despite protest from Chahafi town council
leadership.
Last week, Chahafi tow
council LC3 Chairman Nkuzimana Hadard and his LC3 Councillors accused the
Kisoro district LCV Chairman, Abel Bizimana of personally allocating a piece of
land at Kukabakobwa in Buyora village to Murora sub county without consulting
them.
In the district council
session held this week at the district headquarters, Councillors decried the
rate at which lower local government leadership is quashing decisions of their
superiors in the district council.
In December last year, a
similar scenario happened in Muramba Sub County when the locals and the local
leaders of the sub county protested the district council's resolution to
allocate part of Rwereri land to the area MP, Hon. Alex Niyonsaba for
development.
The Kisoro district speaker
who doubles as the LCV Councillor for Chahafi town council Amos Hakizimana fumed
at lower government leaders that have kept disrespecting decisions of their
superiors. He asked the Kisoro acting chief administrative officer to orient
his sub county chiefs on how to always advise the politicians in their areas of
jurisdictions.
However, Nkunzimana says
that he is not moved by the council's stand because it is not the highest
authority in the country. He also noted that he will continue engaging elders,
opinion leaders and other stake holders in his town council to make a
conclusion on the way forward.
