The
Heady of Laity for the Province of Church of Uganda, John Wilson Tereraho has
withdrawn a court case in which he accused 5 Christians of Muhabura Diocese of
Defamation.
MrTereraho,
an educationist, is also the Head of Laity for the Diocese of Muhabura. The
case was withdrawn on Thursday May 18 from Kabale High Court after the accused
group of Christians pleaded for forgiveness, according to a document seen by
this reporter.
The
apology letter authored on May 13 by Mugisha Emmanuel, Rev Abel Tumubweine,
NyiransengaAnnet and 4 others states that a letter they addressed to His Grace
the Archbishop on January 12 this year contained defamatory remarks and they
apologise henceforth.
This
was after a reconciliation meeting facilitated by Rev Can Dr Wilson Baganizi,
Rev Can Baker Habimana, Mr Sam Musominali and Mr Emmanuel Baganizi.
Now, MrTereraho says the group took the best decision to apologise after making defamatory statements against him.
The
Head of Laity explains that he forgave the group of Christians just like the
Bible teaches. He adds that unity and harmony have returned to the Diocese, and
there is no need to create divisions instead of love.
According
to Tereraho, conflicts and disagreements are normal, but the Christian values
are should to over surpass since it is what the Bible teaches.
According
to the consent judgement signed by Kabale High Court Deputy Registrar, Twakyire
Samuel, the defendants agreed to publish the said apology in the same manner as
their defamatory statement.
For
interests of harmony, both parties also agreed to bear their own costs.
