KISORO: Four people,UPDF soldier arrested with illegal firearms

 

The territorial police of Kisoro have arrested five suspects allegedly for illegal possession of government stores to wit a firearm, a number of ammunitions, military fatigue, GPS machine and Binocular.

The Kigezi police spokesperson Elly Maate identified the suspects as 

RA 247119 Pte Mbazira Trovice attached to joint anti -terrorism task force police headquarters, Mugisha Bosco  aged 51mufumbira fisherman Resident of Ganda village Nabweru Nansana wakiso district,Ntaate John aged, 25 ,muganda hawker  RESIDENT OF  Kazo west Nabweru Nansana,Sekiranda 32, muganda bodaboda rider at mini price kampala resident of katooke Nabweru Nansana Wakiso district and Muheki elias 30, Munyankole businessman dealing with irish potatoes Resident of Rwebikona ,Mbarara city.

 The arrest was made on Tuesday 13th June 2023 along Busamba road after a  resident tipped off police.

It's alleged the on the 13/06/ 2023  at around 2230hrs, at Kisoro CPS information was recieved by D/sgt Warugaba Lawrence from wanainchi that there was a vehicle parked along Busamba Road in Kisoro municipality for a long time. 

Kigezi police PRO Maate Elly  said that D/sgt Warugaba Lawrence together with the team of patrollers proceed to the scene and found motor vehicle registration number UAQ 236M Noah silver in colour parked along Busamba Road with about six occupants, four were arrested who included Mugisha Bosco, Ntaale John, Sekiranda Stanley, Muheki Elias and two others took off. 

 Maate said the suspects were transferred to Kisoro CPS and on search they were found with three(3) magazines loaded with 90 rounds of ammunitions, a pair of UPDF uniform, UPDF warm suit, GPS machine, Binocular, screw driver among others.

After about 30 minutes Mbazira  Trovice reported himself in station claiming ownership of the motor vehicle and some properties therein, alleging that he had given it to his friend who is a driver at Cyanika names yet to be established who had requested to go somewhere and that for him he had booked a room at Home Lodging  along Kivengeri road  inKisoro Municipality where an SMG rifle no.  UPDF XK 576754 Loaded with 30 rounds was recovered as well.

Maate said inquiries are underway to establish their motive  and after which a way forward will be determined.
