-Security operatives in
Kabale District have apprehended the LC 2 Chairperson of Musamba Parish in
Rubaya Sub County, Ndorwa West County, over allegations of accepting bribes
from members of the Parish Development Model.
The arrest was confirmed
by Andrew Ronald Bakak, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Kabale,
following numerous complaints from leaders and members of the Parish
Development Model. The suspect, identified as Monday Charles was in custody by
press time.
According to Bakak, the
accused individual colluded with the Parish Chief, who is also wanted for
questioning, to extort bribes ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 shillings from
members of the Parish Development Model. They deceived the members by falsely
promising to include them in the list of beneficiaries.
Bakak stated that a
thorough investigation was conducted to establish the truth of the claims.
Andrew Ronald Bakak, the
Deputy Resident District Commissioner, commented on the arrest, highlighting
the importance of combating corruption in the region and ensuring the effective
implementation of the Parish Development Model.
The Parish Development
Model, introduced as part of the government's comprehensive approach to
development outlined in NDP III, positions the Parish as the primary
administrative and operational center for delivering services to the local
population. This strategy aims to bring services closer to the people and
foster local economic development.
