The
Muramba Mysterious fire has continued to wreak havoc in the sub county, still
attacking one family now for three weeks.
The
devastated family now calls on the government for intervention. The fire that
started on 14th May 2023 has remained attacking the family of eight households
in Matarama village in Muramba Sub county according to family Members.
Bonifance
Ntuyenabo, a member of the family noted that fire consumed everything that was
in the house. He says that fire is still attacking them every day including
their stored food and now don’t have anything to eat. He calls on the
government and other well-wishers to help them and give them what to eat and
clothes to wear.
Nyirankuriza
Divina, another family member noted that they are currently sleeping outside
their houses in tents while praying adding that at times the mysterious fire
attacks clothes they’re wearing. She adds that their children’s Scholastic
materials were all burnt and are not going to school.
Another
family member Nyiramutuzo Molly noted that the fire attacked them everywhere
they flee to and even in churches which forced them to start staying in a tent
at night. She says that neighbours come to pray with them during night.
Wednesday
Ntakirutimana however insisted that his uncle William Sembagare who had stayed
away for 15 years in Kampala is the one behind the mess. He alleges that
William on coming back to Kisoro after those years performed rituals on the
tomb of their late mother and in a few hours, fire started burning their
household property.
Ntakirutimana
says that since then he is living a suspicious life and his children are not
going to school because they don’t have clothes to wear. He now fears hunger
will hit hard his family in the coming days. He also says that his married
sisters might be also behind this incident because since this fire block out
they have never come back to check on them.
