The police in Kanungu have in custody one John Tumwebaze Viani a
resident of Ibambiro cell Rusoroza parish Kihihi sub county Kanungu district,
for being in possession of adulterated food to wit a slaughtered dog meat.
The suspect was arrested on Friday 2nd June 2023 at around 11:00am in
the bush at Rutwe cell town ward Kihihi town counci,l when he had slaughtered a
dog which he was packing in the sack ready to take it for sale from yet unknown
destination.
The Kigezi police spokesperson Elly Maate said police got a tip off from
residents led by one Bogere Ibrahim a veteran resident of Rutwe cell after they
saw the suspect in the bush and thought had stolen a goat which he intended to
slaughter.
They were later surprised, when Tumwebaze was found slaughtering a
dog.
Mate said that Tumwebaze is in custody and upon completion of inquiries;
he will be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
