Kisoro man sentenced to life imprisonment for killing four relatives

A 30 year old man, Ndikumukiza Gerald is to spend the rest of his life in prison for killing four relatives including all his biological parents in 2020.  He has today been sentenced to life on conviction of quadruple murder charges against him by the Kabale High court sitting in Kisoro.

Prosecution says that while at Kageyo Village Busengo parish in Nyarubuye sub county in the night of 24th of September 2020, Ndikumukiza used a panga to cut and kill his 80-year old father Sebitama Deogratious, his 75-year old mother Nyiraguhirwa Bonikonsira, his 26-year-old sister-in-law Mujawimana Maliserina and his wife Nyiramahoro Joan, aged 20.

During this attack, he first killed his wife, thereafter killed the wife of the brother Habiyaremye George, then proceeded to kill the father and ended with his mother who was naked during this gruesome act on her.

Court led by the Resident Judge of the Kabale High court circuit, Hon. Justice Emokor Samuel said that the actions of the convict can only be described as pure evil. He also noted that the quality of this case calls for a death sentence as previously demanded by the state prosecutor.

Relating to other similar cases that have been handled in Uganda, Hon. Justice Emokor Samuel ruled that the convict, Ndikumukiza Gerald be given a deterrence sentence of life imprisonment so that there is no possibility of him being released from prison for the rest of his life.

His ruling disregarded the prayers of the defence lawyers that wished that the convict be given a lenient sentence because he is a youth and can adjust his behaviour and become a productive citizen of Uganda in future.
