Kisoro district has
commended the outgoing district Resident Commissioner, Hajji Shafiq Sekandi for
his non-sectarian style of work and commitment towards the development of the
district.
RDC Sekandi who has served
Kisoro district on two separate occasions amounting to four years in total that
is 2015 to 2018 and then 2022 to 2023 has been given a two years study leave.
According to him, he will be
flying to central London's Kingston University to pursue masters in Business administration.
He dismissed claims that he
has resigned as an RDC but cited interests for higher positions once he
completes his masters.
He thanked Kisoro district
staff, his staff, district councillors and leadership, and residents for the cooperation
they have rendered to his office. He noted that he will forever have the
Bafumbira on his heart due to their shrewd behaviour and the act of sticking to
truth and working hard to earn a living.
He also commended President
Museveni who entrusted him with leadership responsibilities urging the locals
to keep their support for NRM government.
The Kisoro district LCV Chairperson,
Abel Bizimana commended RDC Sekandi for ending his tenure in Kisoro district with
smart records unlike his predecessor, Retired Captain Peter Mugisha. He wished him well in his next step of life.
Ssekandi said that leaders
should ensure that government projects are continued without forgeries.
The Kisoro district Speaker,
Amos Hakizimana said that Kisoro will miss Sekandi because he has been a man of
actions and a unifying factor for Kisoro district in all aspects of
development.
Byensi Expendito, a senior
citizen and a chairperson of Kisoro district business community said that
Sekandi has been so social t everyone and never used to segregate people while executing
his duties. He noted that Sekandi has been a security expert, which has helped
Kisoro to be secure for a while. He added that Sekandi possesses more of the
President's characteristics of patriotism and Nationalism.
During government hour on
all local radio stations in Kisoro RDC Ssekandi will be bidding farewell to the
population. While appearing on Voice of Muhabura on Tuesday 5th September callers
praised Ssekandi for working with local people.
