KISORO:Vegitable farmers tipped on using recommended pesticides to improve yields

Vegetable farmers in Kisoro district have been advised to always use recommendable pesticides while spraying their vegetables which will help to improve on their harvests.

The remarks were made on 1^st Saturday June 2024 during a one day get together gathering of farmers, vendors and processors organized by techno serve organization under hot map project aiming to link farmers to market vendors as a way of creating a market for their vegetables. The event was held in Mayor's garden, central division In Kisoro Municipality.

According to George Ahimbisibwe an agricultural officer working with Techno serve, their aim was to create a linkage of farmers and vendors who buy their products. HeHe advised farmers to always plant vegetables even during off seasons to fetch a lot of money.

Market vendors from Kisoro who interacted with this reporter thanked techno-serve for the skills they imparted in them on how to promote their products and learn how to save that is helping them to improve in their standards of living financially. They said that the challenge they are meeting as of now is high costs of revenue in the market

Farmers who attended the training disclosed that among the challenge they are meeting include agro-inputs dealers who sell fake seeds that do not give favor them and also lack of market for their products however thanked techno serve that trained them on how to check the products that are recommended which is helping them as farmers
