Kenneth Rwego Gahuriro, the Executive Director of Eden Mission,
has called on families to collaboratively plan for their finances to maximize
the benefits from the organization’s initiatives.
He made this appeal during the launch of three local
savings and credit cooperatives (SACCOs) at Kamatinza Catholic Church in Rwigwe
Parish, Nyakabande Sub-county on 4th October 2024.
The newly established SACCOs—Gasaro, Butuga and
Kiraro, received a total of 78.7 million shillings from Eden Mission aimed at
enhancing local livelihoods. These funds are provided at a nominal interest
rate of 1% per month, to promote financial stability within the communities.
Additionally, Eden Mission will return half of the 1%
interest to the SACCOs as an incentive after two years of operation if they pay
in time.
Rwego emphasized the Eden mission's commitment to
alleviating individual burdens and encouraged couples to work together to
achieve their financial goals.
Grace Akampurira Mutabazi, the coordinator for Eden
Mission in the Kigezi region, urged beneficiaries to strategize and effectively
utilize the funds to foster their development.
Ntawera Funi Evary, the Nyakabande Sub-county LCIII
chairperson, encouraged SACCO members to use the funds responsibly and to
create a work plan for better financial management.
Former Kisoro District Woman MP Kabageni Rose
expressed gratitude to Eden Mission for its ongoing support to the people of Kisoro
and beyond. She urged beneficiaries to invest the funds in various projects
that would contribute to community development.
As part of its commitment to empowerment, Eden Mission
previously offered a one-year training program covering topics such as
parenting, financial literacy, and health. Participants successfully completed
the training and received certificates, equipping them with valuable skills for
their financial journeys.
