KIGEZI: Murder rocks Kigezi sub region,five people killed in one week

-Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult.

 According to Kigezi police PRO,Elly Maate,it is alleged that on 12/5/2023 at around 2100hrs, at Nyakabungo cell/ ward Rubanda town council, the deceased who is not yet identified, armed with a knife attacked the home of one Kabuga Charles and only found the wife Edevina.

Maate added that the deceased grabbed he Edevina  and tried to put some herbs in her mouth, for unknown reasons which made her to make an alarm which brought the attention of other local residents who came for her rescue. 

 He was chased, got and overpowered later taken to the home of the area chairman one Silver Beyaraza, where he was beaten by mob and  killed.

Maate told journalists that the scene was visited, documented and body of the deceased taken to Kabale regional hospital mortuary for post-mortem as inquiries into the matter continue.

 In related development,Police in Kabale are hunting for suspects alleged to have murdered one Conrad Ninsiima aged 32 years old, a mukiga by tribe, an electrician and a resident of Nyarukonkoromi cell, Rushaki ward, southern division Kabale municipality /district.

 ASP Maate told journalist that Information was received this morning by Byamugaha Baptist Godfrey from one known as Fati a young brother to the deceased that Ninsiima Conrad had been killed last night at unknown time by unknown people and his body left along the roadside in Nyamabale cell at the junction of Kihumuro Rushaki road.

 Maate said Byamugaha then proceeded to the said scene of crime and confirmed the allegation and he later reported the matter at Kabale police station.

 A team of detectives visited the scene of crime, body conveyed to Kabale referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

 ASP Maate said inquiries are underway and efforts are being made for those involved to be apprehended.

Murder in Kisoro

Early this week, three people were killed in Kisoro district. According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson the deceased are Lydia Kesiime 38 years old a mufumbira by tribe  and Jackson Hakizimana 33 yrs both residents of Gahiza village, Buhoozi parish, Busanza sub-county in Kisoro district.

It’s alleged that Lydia Kesiime went missing from home on the 6th May, 2023 and the matter was reported to Kisoro police station.

Maate revealed that the search was conducted until Wednesday 10th May, 2024 morning when her body was recovered from the nearby garden of beans decomposing due to injury sustained on the neck.

Police were notified by one Richard Mukunzi, the scene of crime was visited and documented, a postmortem was done and three suspects were arrested to assist in investigations.

The police spokesperson noted that while the police was still at the scene at around 11:00am information was received that one of the suspect Jackson Hakizimana  who was on run was seen and lynched by the angry mob.

On  Wednesday  10th May 2023, A 20 year old man Ngororano Gilbert a resident of  Gasave village, Rwaramba parish, Nyakinama Sub County in Kisoro district was killed by mob for allegedly stealing a bunch of Matoke in the same village.

Sabiti James vice chairperson Gasave village said that the deceased was a habitual thief in the village. He called upon young people to always work hard so that they are not killed while stealing.

Ntakirutimana Aphia mother of the deceased told our reporter that her son used to steal home properties but she had no reports of her deceased son stealing from other people.
