The Kisoro RDC, Hajji Shafiq Ssekandi
Sengoba on wednesday, 7th June 2023 commissioned more completed government projects worth over
89.9 million shillings to beneficiary communities in sub counties of Murora,
Nyakabande, Chahi and Chahafi town council.
This is
a fourth time in a one week since 3rd June this year when he
commissioned projects worth over 204 million in Bufumbira north constituency
and part of Bukimbri.
He has so far commissioned projects
worth over 321.9 million shillings including those in Bufumbira south that he
commissioned on Monday and Tuesday this week.
In Bufumbira East Constituency, a rainy
water harvesting tank of 25,000 litres capacity in Kanyabukungu village has
been handed over to residents for use. A
similar tank was also commissioned and handed over to residents in Rwankoni
village in Chahi Sub County.
Other projects that were commissioned
yesterday are a 12,000 litre tank at Kabingo primary school in Murora Sub
County and two pit latrines in Chahafi town council.
Beneficiary residents commended the
government but demanded for more water tanks as their areas face a big
challenge of water scarcity.
RDC Sekandi asked residents to avail
more free land where the government can construct rainy water harvesting tanks
so that it can help its citizens.
On behalf of the district water officer,
Engineer Kazugu Gideon asked beneficiary communities of water tanks to form water
management committees to that they are guiding on how to maintain the tanks. He
noted that this will help the projects to last longer.
