Kyanika grade one court in Cyanika town council has
been opened for civil cases from Bufumbira south constituency. This is
according to an internal MEMO that was seen by our reporters at the Kisoro
Chief Magistrate court's notice board.
According to the memo signed by Kyanika grade one Magistrate,
his worship Muchelula Dismus only civil, land, and family cases from all town
councils and sub counties in Bufumbira south are permitted to be handled in the
meantime while criminal cases will remain being handled at the Kisoro Chief
Magistrate court. Case hearing started
on 26th May this year.
Speaking to journalists, the Kisoro district
Chief Magistrate court supervisor, Myres Tisaasa said that Kyanika grade one
court is currently unable to handle criminal cases because it lacks a state
attorney.
He also noted that Kyanika court will keep operating
under the jurisdiction of Kisoro chief magistrate court because it has got no Criminal
Records Bureau (CRB) number,
credible police and prisons.
Tisaasa also said that residents in Bunagana town
council and its Vicinity will be using Kyanika court for at least a few month
as they wait for Bunagana grade one court premises to be completed in the next
more than one month.
Meanwhile, he revealed that a request to have another grade one court established in Rubuguri town council was submitted but it has not yet been approved.
