Over 3 billion spent on government project in Kisoro district

-Over 3 billion shillings have been spent on government projects excluding roads in Kisoro district in the financial year 2022/23, according to RDC Hajji Shafique Sekandi.

Sekandi revealed this on Thursday 15th June 2023 while in his office after completing his district wise tour of commissioning and handing over completed government projects to beneficiary communities.

Among these projects include water supply projects worth over 277 million shillings, institution infrastructure like classroom blocks, VIP latrines, administration offices all worth over 1,227 million shillings and livestock and seed supplies worth 492 million shillings.

RDC Sekandi commended Kisoro district council and other leaders who have worked in unison to ensure that most of these projects are a success.

Hajji Sekandi says that he has also used his tour to monitor other unfinished government projects, sensitizing locals about the parish development model and monitoring the progress of the government in fulfilling NRM's 2021/26 manifesto program.

He noted that the district has greatly improved in its operations, a reason why it was ranked number one in government funds absorption for the last financial year and believes the same will happen in this financial year.

Sekandi says that since he embarked on regular monitoring of government projects last year, a number of contractors have improved their quality of work. He called upon beneficiary communities to always communicate abnormalities noticed during implementation of government projects.

Meanwhile, his last tour was in sub counties of Bukimbiri, Nyundo and Rubuguri town council where he commission a 25,000 litre tank at Mukungu village,  25,000 litre tank at Kayihimure primary school in Bukimbiri, 12,000 litre tank at Rugandu primary school in Rubuguri and a 2 classroom block at Gisoni primary school in Nyundo sub county.

RDC Sekandi noted that the government is pushing to achieve its 2040 vision.
