President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged the youth to shun the
divisive influences of tribalism and sectarianism if they are to carve a
prosperous path for themselves in the years to come.
Museveni delivered this message during the National Youth Day
Celebrations held at the scenic Kigezi High School Lower Playground in Kabale
Municipality on Friday.
Under the theme, “Paving the Way for Post-Covid-19 Recovery and the Full
Realization of the 2030 Agenda: Empowering Youth Participation,” the event drew
distinguished figures from various corners of the nation.
Within this inspiring setting, President Museveni further implored the
young minds present to adopt discipline as their guiding principle, shielding
themselves from the allure of youthful indiscretions. He fervently encouraged
them to wholeheartedly embrace education, ensuring they acquire qualifications
that align seamlessly with the demands of the modern world.
In addition to emphasizing educational pursuits, the President called
upon the youth to embark on a journey of productivity. He underscored the
pivotal roles they could assume in areas such as commercial agriculture,
manufacturing, and the service industry – a realm encompassing hotels and
tourism. This, he believed, would be a path towards not just personal success,
but also a contribution to the nation’s growth.
President Museveni challenged the youth to shift their focus from mere
leisure-seeking to becoming architects of wealth. He urged them to step into
the role of wealth creators, empowered by their skills, aspirations, and
dedication. This, he believed would ensure not only their own prosperity but
also a brighter future for Uganda as a whole.
