A man in his 40’s in Nyarubuye Sub
County has been arrested for allegedly dumping sewage into a public water
stream that also connects to Nkanka water source.
The suspect has been identified as
Natoli Sebisusa, a landlord in Rukundo town council. He was allegedly caught
red handed emptying his business toilet and dumping the wastes into Kabande
stream and peoples’ gardens.
Natoli was arrested and taken to
Nyarubuye police station by a group of concerned residents after being caught on
Wednesday 3rd evening.

Clever confirmed the incident adding that it was the second time the suspect
was caught committing the similar crime.
Kabande Cell LC1 chair Nteziyaremye
Lauben described the incident as catastrophic to peoples’ lives. He called on
the district health department to intervene, saying that the affected stream is
connected to Nkanka water source, which serves a large population in the
district.
Residents who on Thursday 4th
gathered at Nyarubuye sub county headquarters cautioned police against
releasing the suspect before arraigning him in the courts of law
The village health team members (VHTs)
Iradukunda Agness and Niringiyimana Leonidas Ntakiye decried the high rate of
open defecation and poor disposal of garbage in Rukundo town council. They said
that Rukundo town council has a market which operates twice in a week without a
single toilet.
